Bolognese for Dinner!
Did you read the book 'Girl with the Pearl Earring'? In the opening scenes of the book, the young girl is chopping vegetables and lining them up according to color. Here's my version.
I am making this recipe for Bolognese. And I'm sure I pronounce it wrong too. I found the recipe on NotMartha.org. I wish you could smell it!
I changed a few things, so I guess it won't be authentic, but oh well--I just hope it gets my kids to eat some vegetables for a change! I doubled the meat and veggies, but not the butter. And pretty much anytime something calls for cooking wine I substitute something else. Not that I'm all that much against it, I just don''t like the taste when I use wine. I use chicken broth for savory, and orange juice for sweeter things like desserts or even salad dressings.
I love the part in the recipe where it says you are doing it right if the fat separates (now THAT's MY kind of meal!).
After all that simmering......
(I was going to post a photo of the finish meal...but Tuesdays are crazy here and well, it was really good, and it was really gone, before I got the shot!) Both girls ate it without a single complaint about all those veggies! Shockers.

looks great - I always make my own from scratch too! IT TAKES me 4 hours or more sometimes!! But it is the BEST ever!!
it looks so fresh and tasty!
I am so not cool when it comes to food that I'd never even heard of that thing that I can't pronounce even though you gave me a guide.
But it looks YUMMY!
YUMMY!! I am hungry now!
Yummy!
