Holiday Food Thoughts...

My MIL learned to make hand dipped chocolates the old fashioned way--
from her MIL.

I was always supposed to learn how to make those fancy cherry chocolates, and chocolate covered fondants from her.

It never happened. I lived too far away for too many years.

Instead.

I learned to make Cream Cheese Filled Pumpkin Rolls, and from scratch Gingerbread Men that create heaven on earth while they bake and taste even better(!) and a family recipe for Danish Pastry (it uses more butter than one cow can make in a month!) and my personal favorite: English Toffee. Yummmm.

What is the food you cannot live without during the holidays? The perfect Turkey? Grandma's secret recipe for walnut stuffing? How about the desserts? Ooooh...pumpkin pie of course! But what about the weird things, the experiments gone awry, the goodies only your family loves?

I'd love to share my recipes with you. Will you share yours with me?
I have an over the top Hot Chocolate recipe, one your kids WILL NOT like, it's that good.
It will be your reward for sharing with me.

Join us for GNO Tuesday night over at Twitter.com. Our Guest Tweet is Nicole from PinchMySalt.com. Bring all your foodiest thoughts and questions, I can't wait to ask her about those dipped cherry chocolates!

the cranberry gelatin that I stumbled upon maybe 2? years ago from the food network that I must make every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Soooooo good. Check it out HERE. It became a family favorite instantly.

I want the hot chocolate!!

I make the turkey for Thanksgiving and it is always sooo good, my secret is not so secret I just soak in a brine for several hours before cooking it.

I make homemade cranberry sauce none of that jelly out of a can here, it was my grandmothers recipe but it isn't anything special just good and homemade.

I also make the pumpkin pie. My MIL makes some crazy sweet potato casserole that I do not think anyone will ever attempt to make, it is SOOO good and soooo bad for you.

Mmmmmm...those sound so, so good! My favorite has always been the pumpkin roll (with cream cheese filling) DeLiCioUs!! My aunt brings it every year and we have always looked forward to that! Unfortunately, said aunt divorced uncle and the pumpkin roll is no more. Is that the saddest story you've ever heard?!

Hot chocolate is a big hit in our house, too! Along with cookies and cakes and pies.

I jsut found you on Blog Stalkers Unite and the lure of anything food has led me here.

I have NO idea what Twitter even is?! I am NOT computer literate.

Our holiday food traditions include for Thanksgiving: My Grandpa Parkin's homemade Dressing with Sausage and Sage....YUMMY!! And Turkey, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole, and frog eye salad and pumpkin pie.

For Christmas: Smoked turkey--it's THE BEST!! My mom and I make Fudge that is TO DIE FOR!!

Great blog--I am glad that you lured me here with all of the food talk!!

First of all, thanks a lot. Now I'm starving.

And my must-have holiday food? My MIL's fudge. I don't know what makes it so good, but I could eat my weight in it. Baaaad.

That looks yummy. I make a breakfast casserole and oven french toast for Christmas morning. You make both the night before and then pop them in the oven Christmas morning. Easy and no big mess on Christmas!

Oh my heck! I was featured. And it didn't hurt or anything!
