Mama Got New Jeans...

Well.....
I did.

The good kind. NOT the kind where you fork over more than would buy two boxes of Costco Diapers.
NO.
The kind that you can wear every day. Wear IN. Make a mess of, throw in the laundry, wear the next day -rinse and repeat.

I had a pair like this. I wore them out. To holes. Plus. They didn't fit anymore. Sad huh? They were all baggy in the butt? The what? I know..where did my butt go? I had to wear a belt? That's impossible isn't it? They stretched out right? Oh RI-AAAAght, that must be it. All the spandex.

So I shopped. At Old Navy for fancy pants sake. And THOSE Jeans didn't fit either. Huh?

My size, the size I've been for 4 years? Was TOO large. Again with that...
TOO large.

I had to try on the size SMALLER. Yeah, RI-aaaght?

I wasn't this size in HIGH SCHOOL people. Much less after three babies?

We call this the secretary syndrome. The stores are now sizing things so they appear to be smaller? Hubby's secretary from eons ago, would walk into office and proclaim, OH MY HECK, look at my new outfit! It's an 8! When the poor lady hadn't been anywhere near a size 22 for the past 22 years. Much less an 8?

A Marketing Lie. Must be. Ri-aaaght?

You tell me.

Nice jeans and congrats on the downsize. I love Old Navy. Nice clothes at a good price. I shopped there last time I was in New York.

hot mama! listen, i have been thinking about the whole sizing thing, too. i just paid way too much for a pair that falls off me now. they say you are supposed to buy a size down, ignore the muffin top glaring back at you in the dressing room, because they stretch out and will be perfect. i can't do it... it is too hideous to bear, even temporarily.

WOW...those jeans make your butt look great!

I think that it is great you are in a smaller size, and I so would just run with it!

Hey, I say take it and RUN. If you have the guts to post your backside (and really, if mine looked like that I might do it too) on your blog, who cares WHAT they say the size is!! If it looks good, it looks good!

I love vanity sizing. I wasn't even a size 4 in HS (senior year), but I'll take it now after 5 kids without a complaint.

However, I think part of the issue is that everything fits differently now. Clothes have different waist lines and rises than they did then, and that does make a difference. I do have some old clothes from HS that still fit, and they are junior size 5's, which is very close to a womens size 4.....so.......it's not like they are making the sizes THAT much bigger.

I'm thinking that yoga and moving and not eating has played a roll here, Carissa. Nice tush.

Look at you and your hot yoga body! Or, it is too much GNO time that causes you not to eat as much LOL??? (As if you ever ate too much!)

Great post. Also, how did I miss the one below it. AWESOME too!

Holy cow! Is. That. Your. Butt? It's huge! Ha Ha. Only sisters get to say that! But what size did you say? Cuz I gotta go get some new jeans myself. I have 3 lbs to go!

Haha. I would never be brave enough to put my butt on my blog. That's great! The jeans look good though. I had to buy new jeans yesterday because mine were worn so thin that they tore in my hands. I'm not posting my butt on my blog though...

Does this blog make my butt look small?
They look good, girl! Work it!

Your butt looks FAB. Yes, certain companies are worse for inflating sizes. Like Banana Republic. Which is why I shop there... so I can pretend I'm smaller than I really am. :)

If I may so, your butt looks fab :)

Vanity sizing has been killing me for years. I'm a zero now, and will soon be a -1 if they keep this up. Furthermore, the cheaper places don't make smaller sizes (that are actually smaller, that is) - a size one at target has got to actually be a 4 or 5.... I recently bought a whole armload of clothes from Old Navy. Oh how I pine for the days of Anthropologie... I LOVE LOVE LOVE Anthropologie.... Now th ebaby gets Baby Gap and Gymboree, and I get stupid old navy. How things change! Now I understand why teenagersalways look so good and moms don't -- guess who gets the good stuff?? Darn little parasites. Too bad we love them so much :)

I could do with a little 'vanity sizing'. That, and a whole lot of spandex!

I admit to buying expensive jeans. You live in them. If you wear them almost everyday a good pair of jeans is totally worth it! I am glad you found your jeans!

Kate said...

Love the butt shot!!

Annie said...

Looks great! Who cares why they are that size?

Joy said...

I have severe jean anxiety! I have found some that I do like and unfortunatly they are those, ya know the ones that cost WAY to much money. I did however go and find 2 pairs at Platos Closet (consignment store) for a TON cheaper it made my day!

You go girl, that's an awesome butt!

Photo can use a little cropping though!

Now talk about sticking to WW so I can do a blog post like this!

Vanity sizing is the pits ~ my DD21 & DD25 (who has 2 kids) are like 0's.

Personally, I like Not Your Daughter's Jeans (NYDJ) that have all kinds of control in place for tummy control & butt control. Works for me & they're my fav jeans!

New blog post coming up ~ as soon as I hit my WW goal ~ don't look for a post any time soon LOL!

There's only a few lies that I like, how thin I look, how young I look and how smart I am. So this vanity size fits in with the first two. It goes against the last one, but I'll pretend that I wrote that one :)

Oh my heck! I was featured. And it didn't hurt or anything!
